Chrysalis Academy, in collaboration with YearBeyond, launched "On the Pulse." A multimedia platform dedicated to celebrating our youth by amplifying their voices and providing a platform for their views.

Premier Alan Winde chaired the first Premier’s Council on Skills (PCS) of 2024 at the University of the Western Cape’s Innovation Hub. The Innovation Hub is a leading educational facility for augmented and virtual reality in South Africa and Africa. Innovation and technology are key Priority Focus Areas of the Western Cape Government’s (WCG) Growth For Jobs strategy and the theme of this PCS.

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) hosted President Cyril Ramaphosa in a Presidential Reflection on the PYEI and PES. This presidential visit served as a platform for the president to engage with youth and youth-centred organisations, reflecting on some of the issues young people face regarding jobs and opportunity scarcity.

This year, we hosted three career fairs in the Western Cape and one in the Eastern Cape. We received exceptional support from over 130 partners across various industries, including beauty, medicine, emergency services, and education. All four Career Fair days, spread out through October, were filled with excitement as partners and YeBoneers networked and inspired one another.

Lights on After School is an annual international celebration observed on the last Thursday of October. The focus of this day is to recognise the vital role of after school programmes in supporting learners.

YearBeyond received the prestigious Social Justice Bridge Builder Award, a testament to the organisation's commitment to prioritizing youth and connecting them with social networks, ultimately encouraging their economic participation.

Practice interviews form a vital part of the YearBeyond calendar as it provides an opportunity for practical and engaged learning.

On Saturday, 2 September, the Chrysalis Academy welcomed 238 young women to its 3-month residential programme called 23 BRAVO course.

YearBeyond hosted the second #GoBeyond Conference. The weekend-long event hosted over 800 youth from across the province.

Chrysalis Academy was abuzz with the intake for its first male course of the year. The cohort consists of 233 young men from across the Western Cape, who are committed to their three-month journey as 23 ALPHA .

220 Young women from across the Western Cape graduated from the Chrysalis Academy. Students completed a holistic, 3-month programme that focused on personal mastery, leadership, technical and vocational, training, and community service. It was a joyous celebration of youth achievement, attended by parents, other family members, Chrysalis Academy Trustees and more.

Planet Youth programme provides us with a unique opportunity to positively influence the lives of our young people. The programme relies on intersectoral partnerships, interconnectedness with our communities, and a whole-of-society approach to ensure that our youth reach their ultimate potential and realise their dreams.
